Future bleach guzzlers: here comes another mondo playlist. “Seriously,” I imagine some of you mocking, “ANOTHER 100 SONGS?!?” Serious as covid on asthma, yes. But I’ll keep this one’s introduction brief.
I merely set out to make a (slightly) more upbeat and (kinda) optimistic counterpart to last week’s pissed-off wail, with a title cribbed from Jamiroquai and key cuts from Pet Shop Boys’ Behaviour LP as mood-setting/theme-summarizing bookends. I make no apologies for the repeated involvement of David Byrne (it will hardly be the last time he pops up) nor the reliance on so many Mark Ronson jams, seeing as they all spotlight different vocalists. I’d also like to thank Todrick Hall for releasing my new favorite quarantine escapism just in time to be included.
Can’t say whether this is my most satisfying LCKDWN20 compilation so far. They all please my ears for different reasons. But as I prepare to hit send, I find I’m still digging the vibe of this set more than its predecessors. Also, considering how many hours of tunes I’ve bundled and shipped your way, there may or may not be a new playlist anytime soon. Might just savor this one for a while.
Hope you get some enjoyment out of it, too.
